I have not yet had a chance to visit a tutoring session at the student writing center located in room B200 as of yet, but as a student I have a few things that I would expect and like to take away from this session whether it be through observance or in a tutoring session.
As a student I would like to walk away from the center knowing exact and proper way to construct a college level essay. I would want to know in details how to construct the introduction, body and conclusion of my essay and keep all my thoughts consistent and in relation to the topic that I am going to discuss in my paper. The use of grammatical errors may not be my main focus while here but, I would like some help in correcting the grammatical errors that I may or may not make.
As a student I would expect the writing center to be well stocked with the literature that I would need to conduct and organize my paper in a well constructed manner. I don't expect it to look exactly like the public or school library but, I would hope that I would be able to find at least more than the majority of the books that I need to help me become a better writer. If tools are what I need to help me construct my paper properly than I would like to be set up with the literature needed and guides to construct proper sentences with complete and proper thought.
While sitting in the writing center I would expect my tutor to be very open and seemed to be enthusiastic about helping me construct my paper better. I don't want him or her to come off in a manner that is not fourth coming to me in anyway because then I will not walk out of the center feeling that I have gained the knowledge that I was seeking in the first place. Questions and answers are very important to me as a student. I would want the tutor to be open about the question that they do have for me because this will becoming engaging to me and open me up to having a discussion on the topic that I am writing about. I am open to conversation and I thrive on speech and talk. The more I am open to talk and talk with you the more my brain begins to think and wonder which helps me in turn of my brainstorming process.
What would be ideal for me while at the learning center is definitely learning how to put my paper together and make it an "A" paper but not just making that one paper that I have put together an "A" paper but, I would want to walk away from this center with the ability to apply all of what I have learned and make every paper a college level " A " paper and beyond.
